I captured a great opportunity to work on a high-spec renovation project in Mt Cook, Wellington, which was featured in New Zealand's Trends magazine. I was a builders assistant working on all aspects of the build - excavations, foundations, blockwork, framing, fit-out and finishing.

This project allowed me to further my skills in construction and later fuel my passion for architecture. During the 2 years I spent on-site I worked with many trades and acquired invaluable skills.

The addition to the house consisted of 2 levels, a green roof with a cabbage tree sprouting through and an outside patio on the lower level. A beautiful spiral staircase links the two levels together, bringing you down inside an open sun-room and kitchen. Hidden away is a twin shower and bathroom along with a sauna. The tiled patio looks out into the vegetation which has an in-floor gas burner and recessed hot tub. A waterfall trickles down the side of the building connecting the levels together.
